President-elect Donald Trump said Friday that he will nominate former NFL player and White House aide Scott Turner as housing and urban development (HUD) secretary.
The HUD secretary assists communities in providing fair and equal housing and advises the president on housing and community development programs, activities, and federal policy.
Turner ran the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during Trump’s first term in office. Trump, in a statement, credited Turner, the highest-ranking Black person he’s yet selected for his administration, with “helping to lead an Unprecedented Effort that Transformed our Country’s most distressed communities.”
President-elect Trump nominated Scott Bessent to serve as Treasury Department secretary once he returns to the White House in January. In a statement on Friday, Trump highlighted Bessent’s expertise. “Scott is widely respected as one of the World’s foremost International Investors and Geopolitical and Economic Strategists. Scott’s story is that of the American Dream,” Trump said.
Trump also said on Friday he would nominate Scott Bessent to lead Treasury Department, Russel Vought to lead the Office of Management and Budget and Lori Chavez-DeRemer to lead the Labor Department.
