    note from the
    "Kingdom of Laos"
    . It was issued in 1962 during the reign of Savang Vatthana.
    The last King of Laos, Savang Vatthana, became King in 1959 when his father Sisavang Vong died. Monarchy had been the form of government in Laos since 790 AD. In 1975 the communists took over and ended the monarchy. They sent Savang Vatthana to a
    "re-education"
    camp where he died sometime between 1978 and 1984.
